For the second consecutive year, the GBC ME successfully implemented the project Green Building Education 4 Students, with the support from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Podgorica, and in partnership with the University of Donja Gorica.

The project final Ceremony took place on June 14, 2018, at the EU Info Center in Podgorica. The Ambassador of the Republic of Germany, Mr. Hans Günther Mattern, handed the Green Building Projefessional (GBPro) Certificates to the students of the Montenegrin faculties and now experts in sustainable construction. The Ceremony was attended by the founders and members of the GBC ME. The event was accompanied by The short story about green construction, info-graphic exhibition, which, as the name suggests, explains the main postulates of an ecologically responsible construction approach.

During the Ceremony, GBPro students presented their experiences and impressions gained on a study trip to the green city of Freiburg. The two-day visit to Freiburg was organized by the Innovation Academy, which sees itself as “a part of a global movement that aims to contribute to social transformation through education on sustainable development”. More than 10 architectural, urban and environmental projects and urban plans were visited. Some of them, presented by GBPro students, include the reconstruction of University Library, the specifications and way of the Best Western Premier Hotel Victoria, the success of social activism in the Vauban district and the urban planning and construction of the new Rieselfeld district. The presentation is available here, and photos of the beautiful city of Freiburg can be viewed in the gallery.

The closing speech at the project final Ceremony was hosted by Ambassador Günther Mattern who recalled his student days in Freiburg when all these projects were in the making: “Although I do not have the habit of visiting places I have already been, I should perhaps make an exception and I go back to Freiburg, the city of my student days. “
